Newmarket: Vintage Jewel Mine:

I was recently on a business trip in Newmarket and had a bit of time to look around in the downtown shops and restaurants. I was introduced to Haven Contemporary Decor, an art and modern deco shop. The shop was filled with cool and reasonably priced new and vintage decor items, but they had a secret. The counter and a little nook in the back was covered in beautiful and fine condition jewelry. From Dior to Miriam Haskell the store had quite a collection. The range of colours, shapes and styles was dazzling. I recomend this little shop to anyone just passing through the small city or as a go to place for a new peice to wear at the Friday night galla.

My parents are awesome. :) They bought me some plain t-shirts for Christmas, and fabric markers for my birthday (which is very close to Christmas). I made these over the winter break, and I plan on making more (and making them better).

Last night was AMAZING. As you can see, the book is OUT! We had a fabulous launch and fundraiser w/our new fashion community friends, 69 Vintage Collective & The Deadly Nightshades.

The Style Council rocked V69 looks that turned many a head, and some of them were even flashing personalized SOOS Rocks swag directly inspired by their own fantastic outfits these past ten weeks (THX BRYN & JANE!!).

DJ Rod Skimmins held the future boogie down (if you’re still deciding upon NYE plans, you might want to Bang The Party). Saidah Baba Talibah testiflied w/peace, love and butterflies (& if you rly love her, pls fan fund her upcoming 2010 album, S(C)ream).

The stylebook will be available to purchase for $4 at 69 Vintage Collective (1207 Bloor St. W.) & Art Starts (1746 Eglinton Ave. W.). All $$ goes towards the Style Council. Be curious! Pick up a copy.

The Dec 8th session, shot & edited by Lorena Salome.

Last week’s session documented the Style Council’s LAST production day. We met at FYI, and pooled together final edits (watch closely, and you’ll see quick sneak peeks of everyone’s DPS’s!). We also wrote and shared our personal introductions (although those 25-30 words was shaved down to 5 for the book).

We’re celebrating our final session today with a field trip to Toronto Fashion Incubator! We’ll make sure to get enough snaps (and have it posted prior to the party).
