1. HI FRIENDS!
The Art Starts Style Council is co-hosting with 69 Vintage & The Deadly Nightshades a party celebrating the launch of our Stylebook. We hope you can come and celebrate our ten weeks of hitting the streets, on the cool hunt.
The damage? PWYC (or a suggested donation of $4, which secures you a copy of the Stylebook) & u wearing ur best party gear. All $$ raised goes towards the program, and making it happen again. We’re also taking canned goods (‘tis the season) in support of the Fred Victor Centre.
Hope to see you there!

EDIT: We’ve created an open FB event for the party — pls RSVP if you’re coming!

  2. The Style Council in O to the V

The Style Council have been meeting every Tuesday at FYI The Bridge to create a Style Book that celebrates the fashions of Dufferin/Eglinton & Oakwood/Vaughan.

But did you know that we’re running after-school fashion programming geared towards the younger fashionable folk at Oakwood Library (341 Oakwood Ave.)?

I’m sure the members of the Style Council will be covering (and attending!) some of these sessions for the book, but if you live in the area and want to check out the action, please do! (For more deets, visit http://www.artstarts.net.)

Here’s the schedule — come quick cause it’ll be wrapping up early December!

4-6pm Thursday, Nov 12 - Final day of T-Shirt Screenings + Modification (I was lucky enough to check out the awesome work that’s being produced in this last Thursday. Thirty kids = thirty designs!)

4-6pm Thursday, Nov 19 - Willis Ansong of streetwear label Peter Franco Sneakers gives a talk breaking down the fash biz, from a designer and entrepreneur’s perspective.

4-6pm Thursday, Nov 26 & Thursday, Dec 3 - Fashion Illustration (facilitator TBA)
